Job Title: Longo's - Prepared Food Manager

Description: Job Overview: Reporting to the Store Manager, this role leads, manages, coaches and trains team members to achieve the highest level of productivity, customer service, adherence to standard operating procedures and all other company procedures including Food Safety and Health and Safety. The position manages the Prepared Foods Department using budgeted measurements and is accountable for a profitable operation by ensuring that the department is prepared for daily operations. Accountabilities: •Achieving department financial objectives by ensuring production and purchase of products are measured against fact based consumer driven sales •Ensuring the department is in a state of readiness in all the day to day operational aspects of front-of-house and working with the team members in back-of-house •Hiring, motivating and developing team members in all the programs within the kitchen (including Starbucks, Salad Bar) and managing their performance •Ensuring proper labour scheduling •Providing oversight and Customer service guidance where necessary to external food service contractors (e.g. Sushi) •Ensuring that team members understand and comply with company standards, policies and procedures including Health and Safety, asset protection Loss Prevention, Food Safety and Human Resource Policies •Responsible for written reports and documentation such as team member performance documentation, operational benchmarking, Health and Safety and Food Safety documentation and department budget and planning process Knowledge, Skills & Competencies •Post secondary education and a minimum of 3 years of food retail experience •1-2 years supervisory/leadership experience or equivalent combination of education and experience •Good understanding of prepared foods department product knowledge •Appropriate knowledge of maintenance and care of equipment, materials and supplies •Experience in planning/chairing meetings and presentation skills •Knowledge of Employment Standards, WHMIS, Food Safety and Loss Prevention practices •Knowledge of temperature control, merchandising and cross-merchandising techniques etc •Creativity – need to have enthusiasm and ability to create eye catching displays •Strong organization and tactical planning skills •Strong initiative ability, excellent work ethic and a sense of urgency •Ability to work in a high paced time constraint environment •Strong sense of ownership, drive and enthusiasm •Strong leadership, motivation and mentoring skills •Flexibility – Ability to adapt quickly to new situations, as well as new and changing processes, programs and services •Ability to coach and develop others •Strong customer service skills
