Toronto, ON, Monday, December 08, 2008 - Dave Delchiaro, Chair of the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (CFIG) Board of Directors and John F.T. Scott, President and CEO of CFIG, announced Pepper’s Food Store in Victoria, BC, as a 2008 recipient of CFIG’s prestigious Independent Grocer of the Year Hall of Fame Award, marking their induction into CFIG’s Hall of Fame.

SMALL BUSINESSES FIGHTS TEN CENT BAG GRAB BY CITY
Toronto, ON, Monday, November 24, 2008 - On December 1st, the City of Toronto will vote on the recommendation of the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee that requires all retailers to provide customers “at the point of sale” with a discount or rebate of 10 cents for “each single-use plastic retail shopping bag not used by the customer.”

2008 CANADIAN INDEPENDENT GROCER OF THE YEAR AWARDS ANNOUNCED
Toronto, ON, Monday, November 03, 2008 - The evening had everything – red carpet, black tie, a special appearance from Olympic athlete, Adam van Koeverden, and a grand prize giveaway of a 2008 Mustang convertible. The 48th Annual Canadian Independent Grocer of the Year Awards Ceremony was presented on Monday, October 27 in Toronto, in front of a gala audience of over 500 leading grocers and distributors at Grocery Innovations Canada 2008, Canada’s premier grocery conference and tradeshow.

Hopes were high as she headed to Grocery Innovations Canada 2008 to compete alongside 23 other motivated contestants.
