The first 50th Anniversary reception was held on January 12, 2012 at the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown Toronto. The reception was the first of what will be several gatherings, of a year-long celebration of CFIG’s history and strong future across Canada.

This book was not born to discuss CFIG and its past, but rather to celebrate 50 independent grocers who are true entrepreneurs and who are in business today. It’s a slice of time and it’s a celebration of the capability and tenacity of the independent grocer.

At the reception, presentations were made to Toronto area retailers that are featured in the book, members of the CFIG Associate Members’ Council, CFIG Board of Directors, companies that sponsored and contributors to the book, associations that work with CFIG and members of the grocery trade media.

Our 50th year will be a tremendous statement of tenacity and achievement in a tough industry.  Be sure to keep an eye out for announcements pertaining to receptions in your area and make an effort to join us to mark it with pride.  From there we will, together, move forward with confidence.
